THURSDAY, OCT. 29, 2015:

man with movie cameraThe Russian Film Festival continues at the Morristown & Township Library with Man With a Movie Camera (1929) a silent, dawn-to-dusk view of urban Soviet life. Doors open at 6:30 pm, movie at 7 pm. Admission: Free. Refreshments will be served, courtesy of the Friends of the Library. At One Miller Road, Morristown.

Newsboys, the popular Christian group, comes to Morristown’s Mayo Performing Arts Center at 8 pm. Tickets $29 to $69. At 100 South St. Call 973-539-8008 for more.

The Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey in Madison presents a stage adaptation of The Diary of Anne Frank at 8 pm. Tickets: start at $32; $20 for students.  At Drew University, 36 Madison Ave. Call 973-408-5600 for more.


FRIDAY, OCT. 30:

It wouldn’t be Halloween without trick-or-treating, would it?  Children are invited to downtown Morristown between 3 pm and 5 pm on Friday, Oct. 30, for candy giveaways by local businesses. Sponsored by the Morristown Partnership.

St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Morristown hosts screenings at 6:30 pm and 11:59 pm of the silent horror classic, The Phantom of the Opera, starring Lon Chaney. Church Music Director Josh Stafford will accompany the 1925 film on St. Peter’s magnificent 1930 Skinner organ. Admission: Adults $15, Students $10, Children 18 and under, free. Popcorn will be available. At South Street and Miller Road.

Rio Clemente, the Bishop of Jazz, leads a cabaret evening with Flip Peters on guitar and Gene Perla on bass, at 7:30 pm at the Randolph Performing Art Center (The Music Den), 1030 NJ-Route 10 West. Wine and cheese precedes the 8 pm performance. Tickets: $25.

The Folk Project’s annual Halloween concert starts at 8 pm. Shudder at the sounds of costumed crooners at The Minstrel in Morris Township. “The audience and cast will compete for astoundingly inexpensive prizes given for the best costumes. Special guest appearances by famous fake celebrities guests will add to the evening.”  Admission: $10, includes refreshments. At the Morristown Unitarian Fellowship, 21 Normandy Heights Road.

Wicked fun: Former Wicked stars Kate Reinders, Mandy Gonzalez, Jenna Leigh Green and Kristoffer Cusick bring Bewitched Broadway to Morristown’s Mayo Performing Arts Center  at 8 pm.  Tickets $29 to $59. At 100 South St. Call 973-539-8008 for more.

SATURDAY, OCT. 31:

A four-mile Halloween Fun Run departs from the Morristown Running Company on South Street  at 8:30 am. Your suggested $10 donation benefits the Red Cross. Organized by Superhero Events.

The Morristown Deli hosts its annualHalloween Family and Dog Festival, from noon to 3 pm on Saturday, Oct. 31.  Costume your pet!  At 7 Elm St.

The Shops on Speedwell in Morris Township will have goodies for costumed trick-or-treaters, from 1 pm to 5 pm on Saturday, Oct. 31.  A dozen Speedwell Avenue businesses and restaurants are participating.  And make sure to read these smart Halloween safety tips, courtesy of the Morris Township police.

Morristown High’s football varsity (3-4) visits crosstown rival Delbarton (5-2) at 1 pm. Go Colonials!

Dig out your bell bottoms for a ’70s-themed concert at the Sanctuary series in Chatham.  Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Terry Sylvester of the Hollies (He Ain’t Heavy, He’s My Brother; Long Cool Woman in a Black Dress; The Air That I Breathe) will be joined by John Ford Coley (I’d Really Love to See You Tonight, Nights Are Forever Without You) to headline the 8 pm show, with openerEd Alstrom, longtime Yankees organist. SUNDAY, NOV. 1:

The Morristown Farmers Market celebrates its 25th season, from 8:30 am to 2 pm every Sunday through Nov. 22, 2015, in municipal lot 10. That’s behind the Morristown Post Office, accessible via Morris Street or Dumont Place.  Organized by the Morristown Partnership, the market features 16 area farms and specialty vendors, with entertainment offered once per month.

Curious George: The Golden Meatball comes to Morristown’s Mayo Performing Arts Center for two shows, at 1:30 pm and 4 pm. Ages 3-10. Tickets: $12-$15. At 100 South St. Call 973-539-8008 for more.

Carolyn Dorfman Dance  presents three varied works at 2 pm, at the Morris Museum’s Bickford Theatre. “Dorfman uses this eclectic and unusual grouping of artists, their instruments, sounds, and vocals, to create new and visceral movement connections – WAVES – between her dancers, the music and the dance.”  Tickets: $35 General Public; $30 Members/Seniors/Subscribers; $15 Students (18 & under or valid college ID). The combined choirs of  The Presbyterian Church in Morristown and Morristown United Methodist ChuAll Saints Concertrch together celebrate All Saints Sunday, at 5 pm at The Presbyterian Church in Morristown, 57 East Park Place. Requiem by Maurice Duruflé is followed by Anthems of Remembrance for Veterans Day. Admission: Free.
