You eat organic. Your carbon footprint is light. Why not show the same respect to your skin?
That’s the premise of the b.jones organic spa, which held its grand opening Saturday in Morristown.
“We are organic through and through,” from the Eminence line of skin care products to green cleansing agents for the floors, said owner Irene Leavy.
The spa’s name is short for Bubba Jones, the nickname of Leavy’s 5-year-old son, Connor, who provided inspiration for the enterprise.
“When Connor had eczema, the doctor prescribed petroleum jelly. I said ‘What!? That’s the stuff that’s left over at the refinery.’ I began to do some researching,” said Leavy, a graduate of the Artistic Academy and The Institute for Therapeutic Massage.
Her four-member team offers an array of facials, massages, body treatments, energy healing therapies and waxing services. Fees range from $30 to about $175, and the vibe is calm and relaxing, said Leavy.
No rush. No chemicals.
“My personal mantra is giving back to the community, one face at a time,” she said.
Leavy’s community service extends to Assumption Church, where she is a parent volunteer, and to the Morristown Women in Business and the local pod of Believe Inspire Grow (B.I.G).
Her husband, Michael Leavy, volunteers as vice-president of the Morristown board of adjustment.
Partnering with the Morris County chapter of Dress for Success, b.jones will give clients free facials prior to job interviews, Irene Leavy said.
The spa is at 62B South Street, (entrance from Pine Street) in the space formerly occupied by Top This, which moved to South and Morris streets and became Boutique 161.
After the ceremonial ribbon-cutting, well wishers streamed inside to celebrate and enjoy complimentary hand massages. Mayor Tim Dougherty and First Lady Mary Dougherty seemed impressed with b.jones.
“This is another suggestion of how the town is running in the right direction, when people like Irene take charge and start a small business,” said the Mayor. He described the spa as “elegant, soft and inviting.”
The poor mayor must have so little work to do.
I hope not.
Is there a business opening that the mayor has not attended?
