It’s a glimpse of the fifth annual Gran Fondo New Jersey, which rolls in and out of Morristown today, Sept. 13, 2015.

More than 2,000 cyclists queued along Speedwell Avenue on a cloudy, comfortable Sunday morning, awaiting the countdown to begin the day’s rides.

“What’s a Gran Fondo?” Mayor Tim Dougherty asked when Marty Epstein of Marty’s Reliable Cycle broached the idea five years ago.

The Mayor answers his own question in the video.
