This was a good week for outdoor entertainment in Greater Morristown.

Music Beyond Borders concluded its sixth summer series with a lunchtime performance on the Morristown Green by Korean Traditional Dance of Choomnoori,  while Morris Township’s summertime music rocked on with the Heart of Gold Band at Ginty Field.

“Borders” drew some 1,700 people to four Tuesday shows featuring music and dance from the Middle East, the Caribbean, Ukraine and Korea, according to Morris Arts, the nonprofit that organized the series with the Mayo Performing Arts Center.

The attendance was comparable to last year’s, said Dr. Lynn Siebert of Morris Arts.

“We had some issues with the weather, and threats of thunderstorms,” she said. Despite the forecasts, however, “people seem to enjoy the music.”

“Artistically, it was very satisfying,” said MPAC’s Ed Kirchdoerffer, who anticipates a seventh season for “Borders” next summer.  “It’s just something we do to give back to the town, and to be good community partners, giving free community entertainment.”

Later on that same day, the Heart of Gold Band covered Neil Young, Led Zeppelin, Yes, Peter Frampton and other favorites during a hard-driving twilight concert at Ginty Field.
