Another summer month is flying off the calendar — and a bunch of artists and performers are ready to give it a proper sendoff.

meet me in morristown logo squareMeet Me In Morristown returns on Thursday, July 30, 2015, with a day of sidewalk sales and an evening of free outdoor entertainment served by more than 30 artists and musicians.

Now in its second season, MMIM is a joint production of Morris Arts and the Morristown Partnership.

The last Thursday of each warm-weather month gets its own downtown celebration, and this one includes rock music on the Morristown Green, jazz on the lawn of the Morristown & Township Library,  and yoga in the (pocket) park.

(If Mother Nature acts up, everything moves to Friday.)

Below is a list of more highlights.  To get a flavor of the fun, see our…

PRIOR COVERAGE OF ‘MEET ME IN MORRISTOWN’

Thursday’s storefront sales start at 11 am;  the entertainment runs from 5 pm to 9 pm. See you on South Street? Here is a glance at the roster.

FROM MORRIS ARTS:

The CRAFT – established in 2012, when Malachi Dee and Luigi Ferraro left Boston to pursue a music career in NYC, they enlisted the help of some local musicians with the idea of spreading their music, and their messages of peace, understanding, happiness and community. Join them for a live rock performance on The Green!

Food 4 The Soul Train – a mobile creativity company based in Nutley that offers one-of-a-kind, collaborative environments for learning and celebration. The heart of their business is their vintage caravan, nicknamed Maude, which brings their love of travel, adventure, and building community under one colorful roof. Join Food 4 The Soul Train for a unique Tandem Poetry activity that nourishes the mind & body with writing and art.

Gefyra Drum Circle with Carol Pena – build rhythms; celebrate life, play and dance! There will be sonic (and dancing) space for everyone. Drums, shakers, bells and other percussions are welcome. Come and bring your inner rhythm!

Yoga in The Park by Be Well. Morristown (Pocket Park next to the Grand Cafe)

Morristown Library presents Pop & Jazz with Morristown’s Own The Metropolitan Saxophone Quintet, 7 pm8 pm. Bring a blanket or a chair and come and enjoy the music and stroll down South Street to see all that Meet Me in Morristown has to offer!

The Coteries – an acoustic trio that formed in the summer of 2014 following an 11,000 mile long road trip in their old VW Van, Trusty Rusty. Being inspired by the singer-songwriters of their past, The Coteries have adopted much of the same touch. They craft songs around stories and the tight-knit melodies of lead singer Emily Parasiliti woven with accompanying acoustic guitar work from Matt Runciman and Ben Brosh.

Rooey Knot – two high school friends turned entrepreneurs who created a sustainable fashion brand that uses men’s neckties to create beautiful, one-of-a-kind accessories. They take traditional menswear items and transform them into a womenswear piece that is unique, stylish and timeless. Their bags use up-cycled suede or leather from secondhand jackets.

Peter Alessandria Photography – fine art photography prints that focus on architecture, landscapes, seascapes, cityscapes, and still life images.

Fuzzy Wuzzy Design – the brainchild of deaf-blind artist Christian Markovic, a remarkable man who is daily challenging his physical limitations, using his artistic and creative talent as well as his amazing spirit to persevere. Shop beautifully crafted cards, stationery and clothes – all designed by Christian.

And much much more! Over 30 artists will dot the downtown.

Visual artists set up tables to showcase and sell their art, musicians dot the downtown, street performers engage audiences and Morristown businesses operate sidewalk sales and demonstrations. If you are interested in finding out more about Meet Me in Morristown, visit the Morris Arts website.
