The City of Belfast Youth Orchestra (CBYO) was formed in 1955. This was the first attempt to bring together young musicians of similar age and abilities in the City to play classical repertoire.

One of the founding members of the orchestra was Sir James Galway.   Since then the orchestra has brought countless generations of young people together uniting and reconciling both sides of a divided community through music during Belfast’s troubled times.  Many of the members go on to become professional musicians, with a significant percentage also training in the medical and legal professions.

Today, the CBYO is regarded as one of the finest Youth Orchestras in the UK, Ireland and Europe.  The CBYO has performed in some of the finest concert halls in Ireland and has also performed  to a capacity audience in the Royal Albert Hall London, to great acclaim, several times.

As part of its 60th Anniversary Concert Tour to the United States, Conductor Paul McBride is delighted to bring the Orchestra to the Morristown United Methodist Church.  During the concert they will perform a mixture of Light Classical Repertoire with some Irish Favourites.
