Mackey Pendergrast picked a great week to start as superintendent of the Morris School District.

Moments before school and government officials welcomed him at Morristown High School on Tuesday, students tested their engineering skills by racing cardboard boats in the pool.

After the speeches, everyone visited the seventh annual student art show, which included robo-basketball, a student-designed trebuchet worthy of MythBusters, a one-hour painting contest and the 50th anniversary edition of Tricorn, the high school literary magazine. (This eye-popping show runs through Thursday.)

The talent explosion continues on Wednesday night, June 3, 2015, with a student fashion show.  On Thursday, Classics Academy shows off a plethora of independent study projects.

And on Friday at 6 pm, 20 videos will compete for prizes at the third annual MHS Film Fest.  It’s free, in the high school media center, and everyone is invited.

This all falls under the heading of the school’s Art and Design Week.  Impressive stuff.
