Here is a ribbon-cutting that’s a little different:  The Salad House of Morristown will include a silent auction of sports memorabilia, to benefit Team LeGrand of the Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation, at the restaurant’s grand opening on Saturday, April 25, 2015.

Since being paralyzed during a game in 2010, Rutgers football player Eric LeGrand has become a sports broadcaster and an author.

Grandstand Sports & Memorabilia Inc. of New York will conduct the auction, with a portion of proceeds going to Team LeGrand.

Morristown Mayor Tim Dougherty is scheduled to cut the ceremonial ribbon for the Salad House at 2:30 pm.

Joe Cioffi, owner of The Salad House in Millburn, said in 2013 that customers asked him to open another build-your-own-salad restaurant in Morristown.

He is leasing 2,000 square feet on the ground floor of the Metropolitan luxury apartments, at 40 Market St.

“Morristown is a beautiful town with a nice mix of people. It has that feel of a metropolitan community nestled in the suburbs,” Joe said when the deal was announced.

“The town has a lot going for it, but it’s not easy to find a place to grab a quick salad. I asked around town, and everyone told me that you have to go to a sit-down restaurant or settle for something that was pre-made.”
