Morristown firefighters had to extricate the driver of an SUV that flipped after a collision at the intersection of Turtle Road and Madison Avenue just before noontime on Thursday.

The driver, a woman, was conscious when she was removed from the overturned vehicle, said Deputy Fire Chief Jon Prachthauser, at the windy, bitterly cold scene near Care One in Morristown. The extrication took a few minutes, he said.

At least one person was removed from the other vehicle, a maroon-colored car, the deputy chief said.  The call was reported at 11:50 am, he said.

Madison Avenue was closed between Morristown Medical Center and Franklin Street. Through traffic also was closed on Franklin from the hospital to Madison.  The roadways were reopened shortly after 1 pm, police said.

We’ll have more details as they are available.  Our thanks to Kendra Arnold for the heads-up.
