Pedestrian struck by vehicle in Morristown on Saturday

A senior citizen was struck by a car while while crossing Maple Avenue on Saturday evening.

morristown police logoThe 91-year-old man, who was in a marked crosswalk, sustained cuts and a broken rib, reported Morristown police Lt. Stuart Greer.  The pedestrian was taken to Morristown Medical Center by the Morristown Ambulance Squad and paramedics from Atlantic Health Systems.

Christian Winans, 55, of Morristown, was issued a summons for failing to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk.

The driver of the 2014 Nissan Versa remained at the scene and cooperated fully, telling police he had been turning left from Madison Street onto Maple and did not see the pedestrian, Lt. Greer said.

Officer Carmen Caponegro investigated the accident, which occurred at 6:40 pm on Jan. 30, 2015, near Assumption Church.
