Many people have asked how they can help the residents displaced by Friday night’s fire on Elm Street.

Morristown Mayor Tim Dougherty says here is how:

Donations of clothing and nonperishable foods can be dropped off at the Morristown Fire Station at 161 Speedwell Ave.

The town also will accept monetary donations to help the victims get back on their feet.

The Red Cross said on Saturday that it’s providing assistance to 23 individuals displaced by the blaze.

Checks should be made out to TOWN OF MORRISTOWN, with a notation that the money is for displaced victims of the Elm Street fire.

These checks can be dropped off at the Mayor’s office during business hours on Monday, or sent to:

Morristown Town Hall
Att.: Mayor’s Office
200 South St.
Morristown, NJ 07960

The Mayor said that a special fund name will be established; anyone wishing to donate sooner can do so as instructed above.

The victims are being housed and fed by the Red Cross for the next four days, said the Mayor.  The town and the Red Cross will try to arrange placement for them after that.

Anyone with questions or ideas can call the Mayor at 973-885-1871.

Additionally, these businesses are extending offers to the victims.

  1. is it possible to use a website like Gofundme.com so people who don’t live in Morristwon any more can donate? I believe the service is free.

  2. Is it possible to get a more detailed list of what these families need such as clothing sizes and specific items that are needed?
