The Morris School District and the Morris Plains School District will shorten the school day on Monday, Jan. 26, 2015, in hopes of getting students home ahead of the major snowstorm that’s expected to gather force later in the afternoon.

Schools in the Morris District will operate on a four-hour-and-20-minute schedule.  All extracurricular activities are canceled.

In Morris Plains, the Mountain Way and Borough schools will dismiss at 12:45 p.m.on Monday.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning, effective from noon on Monday until 6 pm on Tuesday.

A Nor’easter could dump between 14- and 24 inches of snow on the region, according to Sunday afternoon’s forecast.

The Morris District serves children in Morristown, Morris Township and (high school only) Morris Plains.
