Video: Take the Chanukah Challenge in Morristown

The Morristown Green was a busy place on Sunday night, with kiddies queuing for Santa and a solstice parade,  among other events.

Visitors also were asked to take the Chanukah Challenge, during the lighting of the giant menorah (evening number six) by Rabbi Boruch Hecht.

The rabbi is director of admissions for the Rabbinical College of New Jersey in Morris Township.

Perched in a cherry picker above the Green, he sang a couple of traditional songs — and then connected the symbolism of the flickering lamps to our modern world and issued a call to action.

His remarks begin about halfway into this brief video.

Happy Chanukah!
