Solstice squared in Morristown. Or is it “Solsti”?

Morristown has at least two of everything, from bakeries to yogurt shops. So it’s not surprising we’d have overlapping Winter Solstice celebrations.

As darkness fell on Sunday, luminaries gathered on the Green —  well, people with luminaria gathered — to greet the arrival of winter with a Winter Wonderfest parade organized by Morris Arts.

It was a silent procession. History does not record what, if any, carols were sung at Stonehenge to mark such occasions.

A couple of blocks away, meanwhile, Grow It Green Morristown held its annual solstice event at the Early Street Community Garden.

There were yoga “star salutations,” and participants released their burdens by jotting them onto scraps of paper and tossing them into the fire pit.

Perhaps next year these nonprofits can join forces, to avert the dilemma of Dueling Druids.  (As participants, we can say that.)

A belated Happy Solstice, everyone!
