MORRISTOWN WILDCATS STUN PREVIOUSLY UNBEATEN SUMMIT TEAM TO WIN THE 6TH GRADE SUBURBAN JUNIOR FOOTBALL LEAGUE SUPER BOWL CHAMPIONSHIP

Running back and game MVP Quron Lattimore scored two touchdowns to lead the Morristown Wildcats 6th grade football team to a 19-12 victory over previously undefeated Summit in the “Super Bowl” of the New Jersey Suburban Youth Football League last month in Perth Amboy.

Lance Davis also had a touchdown for the Wildcats. The defense was led by defensive tackle Benson Liu who had four sacks on the day.

The Wildcats, who had lost to Summit on opening day and to Westfield in the middle of the season, were able to avenge both losses in the playoffs. They beat a previously unbeaten Westfield team in the semifinals by the score of 13-0, earning them a spot in the Nov. 23 championship game.

“We had 39 young men on our roster who worked hard all season and peaked at just the right time to beat these two worthy opponents. They believed in themselves and in each other and recognized that if they stayed focused they could beat anybody. We are so proud of them! We can’t wait until next season, ” said Wildcats Head Coach John Murphy.

Editor’s note: Congratulations to Coach Murphy’s Wildcats– and a special shout-out to No. 63, Joel Torres, who also is a budding filmmaker.
