Some people collect model trains.

Mike Del Vecchio collects train songs.  And he will share them on Thursday, Dec. 11, 2014, at the Bickford Theatre in Morris Township.

The special meeting of the Tri-State Railway Historical Society Inc. gets rolling at 7:15 pm, with music at 8 pm. Admission is free; all are welcome. Light refreshments will be available.

Mike, who works in the rail industry, also runs the Sanctuary concert series in Chatham and is a seasoned musician. He will be joined by another top guitarist, Jeff Loy.

They will mine a rich tradition of rail-themed tunes. Learn about Blue Coal, the Lackawanna Cutoff, and John Draney’s race to bring surgeons to the mortally wounded President McKinley in Buffalo.

Tri-State Railway Historical Society logoMike has penned some songs as well, including one about the Hibernia Underground Railroad.

His concert continues a year of 50th anniversary presentations by the historical society. Railroad books, videos and memorabilia will be on sale before the meeting.

The Bickford is in the Morris Museum, at 6 Normandy Heights Road. Weather updates, if necessary, will be posted on the historical society’s website.
