Rogue, the black-and-white Boston Terrier missing since a Thanksgiving car crash in Morristown, may have been hit by another vehicle later that night.

A man who lives at the Ridgedale Avenue site of Thursday’s crash reported seeing another vehicle strike the dog on the evening of the accident, said Karen Negrin, the on-call veterinarian who has continued the search.

That search took her back to Ridgedale Avenue on Sunday afternoon. Negrin said Rogue was seen there around 3 pm, but she and Morristown police were unable to find the animal.

A little girl had tried to catch Rogue, but the terrier got startled by dogs in the yard and ran away, Negrin said. The owner tells her that the dog is very friendly.

They even placed the dog’s crate near the crash scene, in hopes that Rogue would return there.

Another pet, a pitbull, was rescued from the one-vehicle crash on Thanksgiving evening. The car appeared to be exiting southbound Route 287 when it struck a parked vehicle and overturned, landing at a Ridgedale Avenue residence, according to Morristown Fire Chief Robert Flanagan.

The driver sustained broken ribs and a broken leg, Negrin said.

Rogue is 14 months old, friendly, and has a microchip that would enable any shelter or vet to identify her, said the veterinarian, who operates an animal hospital in Union.

Her partner is Samantha Judson, Morristown’s animal control officer and founder of 911 Dog and Cat Rescue.  Negrin said she took this case because Judson is on vacation.

During their five years working together, they have had good success at reuniting pets with their owners, Negrin said.

Morristown cares about animals, she added, noting that residents, business owners, firefighters and police (including Morris Township police) have posted flyers with Rogue’s picture.

“If anyone can find Rogue alive, it’s Morristown,” Negrin said.

If you see this Boston Terrier, please contact Morristown police at 973-538-2200 or the New Jersey State Police at 973-347-1001.
