From the Morris Township Department of Parks and Recreation:

For the third year, the Morris Township Department of Parks & Recreation is participating in the Jersey Cares Annual Coat Drive.

For the 19th Annual Coat Drive (2014), Jersey Cares plans to collect and distribute more than 35,000 “gently used” winter coats to men, women and children in need throughout New Jersey.

Over the past eighteen years, Jersey Cares has collected, sorted and distributed more than 400,000 coats to New Jersey residents through our annual drive. Companies, churches, fire departments, police stations, schools and other organizations set up sites across the state to collect coats.

Coats are then delivered by collection site representatives to the nearest container site. Volunteers then sort the donated coats at the container site and bag them for pick-up, after which nonprofit organizations pick up their coats and distribute them to people in need.

Donating Coats: Coats may be dropped off between Nov. 24, 2014, and Dec. 15, 2014. Municipal Building Lobby hours are weekdays from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm. Individuals donating more than 10 coats should contact the Parks and Recreation Dept. in advance to arrange the collection.

In 2013, the Township collected more than 100 coats at the Municipal Building and dropped off 15 bags of coats to the regional collection site.

Please share this Coat Drive information with your co-workers, colleagues and friends.

Please call the Department of Parks and Recreation at 973-326-7371 for questions and to arrange volume drop-offs.
