Morristown police arrest two on heroin charges at lunchtime on South Street

It looked suspicious, like a lunchtime drug deal, to an undercover Morristown police officer .

He investigated further, and when he was done, two men were led from South Street in handcuffs on Friday, charged with heroin possession.

morristown police badgeKhalid A. Wright,  36, of Brooklyn, NY, was charged with possession of heroin, possession of synthetic marijuana, drug possession with the intent to distribute,  and drug possession with intent to distribute within 500 feet of a public park.

William Dean, 66, of Morristown was charged with possession of heroin and possession of synthetic marijuana.

Dean appeared to have come out from the Community Soup Kitchen, said Police Lt. Stuart Greer. The suspects were arrested nearby, on South Street near DeHart Street, at 12:13 pm, the lieutenant said.

The arresting officer had been working in plain clothes when he made the busts.

Both suspects were taken to the Morris County Jail in lieu of $25,000 bail, set by the Morristown Municipal Court, Lt. Greer said.
