Poet Laureate to read at College of Saint Elizabeth on Nov. 17

Laurie Ann Guerrero, poet laureate of San Antonio, Texas, will be reading her work on Monday, Nov. 17, 2014, at 7 p.m. in Saint Joseph Hall at the College of Saint Elizabeth in Morris Township.

A question and answer session and book signing will follow. The event is free and open to the public.

Ms. Guerrero has published two books, Babies under the Skin and A Tongue in the Mouth of the Dying. Her third book, A Crown for Gumecindo, is due to be released in January 2015.

Among her recognitions and awards are a 2014 grant from the Artist Foundation of San Antonio Literary Arts, a 2013 grant  from the Alfredo Cisneros Del Moral Foundation, a 2012 Andres Montoya Poetry Prize,  and selection as a 2010 National Women’s History Month honoree at Palo Alto College.

Sponsored by the Sisters of Charity of Saint Elizabeth, Convent Station, New Jersey, the College of Saint Elizabeth enrolls more than 1,500 full- and part-time students in more than 17 undergraduate, 10 graduate and two doctoral degree programs; an Ed.D.in educational leadership and a Psy.D. in counseling psychology.
