Morristown’s Got Talent!   will have two first prizes in 2015, plus an “audience choice” award that will be voted by the crowd at the competition.

But this time, $1,000 prizes will go to the best performers over and under age 19.

And the popular vote, which was tried once before, will return, with a $500 prize, the Morris Educational Foundation announced on Thursday.

The competition is open to people who live, work or study in Morristown, Morris Township or Morris Plains, and to alumni of Morristown High.

The event, now entering its eighth year, raises money for special programs in the Morris School District; last winter’s edition raised $70,000.

Auditions are scheduled for Dec. 13, 2014, at Morristown High School. Registration costs $20 and the deadline is Dec. 3.

“We are anticipating selling out the theater once again this year and we already have lots of fun new elements of the show we can’t wait to introduce to our audience!” Kim Pistner, who chairs the MGT committee, said in a statement.

Money raised by the show will benefit “enrichment programs and other projects aimed at enhancing the quality of education and educational opportunities for students in the district,” added Molly Servais, chair of the Morris Educational Foundation.

The Morris School District serves 5,200 students from Morristown, Morris Township and (for high school) Morris Plains.

Talent show tickets will go on sale in early 2015, according to the MEF.
