‘Goldfinger’ kicks off 1964 film series at Morristown & Township Library, Oct. 29

Fifty years ago, movie fans had some great choices.  The Morristown & Township Library will present four hits from 1964, starting on Oct. 29, 2014, with Goldfinger, one of Sean Connery’s most popular turns as James Bond.

Doors open for each of the Wednesday screenings at 6:15 pm. Admission is free, and light refreshments will be served, courtesy of the Friends of the Library.

James Bond sets out to investigate Auric Goldfinger, a gold magnate and smuggler, who is plotting to undermine the gold reserve at Fort Knox. Starring Sean Connery, Honor Blackman and Gert Fröbe.  Rated PG.  110 min.

Wednesday, Nov. 5 – Nothing But a Man (1964)

A proud black railroad worker falls in love with a preacher’s daughter but faces discriminatory challenges in the 1960s American South. Starring Ivan Dixon and Abbey Lincoln. Not Rated.  95 min.

Wednesday, Nov. 12 – Dr. Strangelove or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb (1964)

An unhinged American Air Force general triggers a nuclear attack on the Soviet Union, as the war room full of politicians and generals frantically try to find ways to stop the plane carrying the bomb. Starring Peter Sellers, George C. Scott and Sterling Hayden.  Rated PG.   95 min.

Wednesday, Nov. 19 – A Hard Day’s Night (1964)

The film follows a ‘typical’ day in the life of the Beatles, following the Fab Four (and their fans) from their concerts to their hotel rooms and features many of their famous songs. Starring the Fab Four and Wilfrid Brambell.  Not Rated.  87 min.
