The Colonials dropped to 2-3 in a scoring duel with the Minutemen at home on Saturday.

After the teams traded points all afternoon, Mendham connected for a touchdown pass with less than three minutes on the clock for a 42-35 final.

The Colonials struck first on a 70-yard drive, highlighted by the scrambling first down runs of McCall, dizzying Lorenzo runs and a diving catch in the end zone by Pettiway for the score.

Mendham matched the Colonials right away, with only five minutes off the clock.

On the next offensive series, the Colonials lost a fumble, which led to a Mendham TD. Morristown continued to thrill; Powell almost broke the ensuing kickoff before being tackled by the kicker at the 40 yard line.

Next play, Powell scored, but it was called back. Then McCall scrambled in from the 24–a two-for-one TD bonus for the fans!

Powell would later get a TD on a thrilling 70 yard punt return with Buchner leading interference. Score at the half: 21-21.

The second half had all the foot- stomping action of the first. The defense began to swarm Mendham, with Napoleon forcing an internal grounding call. Cazimoski had a great day on defense.

Both team continued to swap TDs. Unger, just a sophomore, punished the Mendham defense. Lorenzo scored on a daring catch and ran through the linebackers.

A Pettiway catch and run set up a Gwynn walk-in TD. Showing just how much talent this team has, each touchdown was scored by a different Colonial. Bolson added to an impressive PAT tally.

But the game was over for the Colonials on a measurement for a first down with a minute and change left.

Next up for Morristown: West Morris Central, away, at 7 pm on Oct. 17, 2014.
