Our unscientific survey suggests Sunday’s 20th anniversary Morristown Festival on the Green was the most popular one yet.

We base this on the fact that our toes were run over by three baby strollers and our ribs got elbowed at least twice amidst the downtown throng.

For once, the Morristown Partnership’s crowd estimates– which usually fall somewhere between a Papal greeting at St. Peter’s Square and the ticker-tape parade for the Apollo moonwalkers–seemed right on the money.

“It’s a beautiful day,” said Jennifer Wehring, who quarterbacks the event for the Partnership. “Eighty-degree weather plus 20 years equals 100 percent fun!”

Informally, people refer to this annual event as the Fall Festival. This weekend’s balmy temperatures suggest that a beach party theme might make sense next year, however.

Our thanks to MG contributors Linda Stamato, Leslie Raff and Dave Sullivan for these photos:

Another persuasive element of our unscientific survey:  Bipartisan agreement. Morristown Mayor Tim Dougherty, a Democrat, and Councilwoman Alison Deeb, a Republican, both said this was the biggest turnout they can remember.

And then there is the Bruce Factor.

As promised, the Boss made an appearance.  He was quite animated, too. On a video screen, in the NJ Hall of Fame trailer.
