Man survives plunge from Morristown parking deck; police investigating

A Basking Ridge man is in critical condition after falling from a Morristown parking deck in an apparent suicide attempt on Thursday.

The 21-year-old was found laying on Spring Street, behind the Headquarters Plaza complex, with severe injuries to his head and body, at 4:41 pm, according to Morristown Police Lt. Stuart Greer.

Witnesses told police the man had been observed on the P1 level of the HQ Plaza parking deck shortly before the incident. He had made suicidal statements to friends and family, according to the preliminary investigation.

Police believe the man fell to the roadway from the P1 level of the parking deck.

Although no criminal involvement is suspected, Lt. Greer said, the investigation continues and anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Teddy Jones at 973-292-6642.

Emergency care was rendered by the Morris Minute Men as well as by personnel from Atlantic Ambulance. The injured man was taken to Morristown Medical Center for treatment and observation.

  1. Is there any update about the guy that tried to commit suicide by jumping from the Headquarters Plaza Parking Garage??
