There will be no shortage of fun in Morris Township in July 2014. Here is a sampler:
The Hanover Wind Symphony will take you on a musical vacation, with a free performance of its Souvenirs and Postcards program at Ginty Field, on Tuesday, July 8 at 7 pm. Bring beach blankets or lawn chairs.
Come back to Ginty at 7:30 pm on July 9 for a free screening of The Lego Movie, the animated tale of an ordinary Lego mini-figure fighting to save the Lego universe from the evil Lord Business. SummitSoundz will take deejay requests until showtime at dusk, around 8:45 pm. The field is adjacent to the municipal complex on Woodland Avenue.
Mark your calendars for movie showings on July 23 (The Nut Job) and Aug. 23 (Despicable Me 2). That’s also the night of the township’s third annual Family Camp-Out Night. A Halloween screening of The Goonies is scheduled for Oct. 25.
The Tri-Harder Kids Triathlon returns to the Ginty Pool on July 12. It features a swim-bike-run format with distances appropriate for kids from ages 4 to 15.
Emphasis is on participation, not competition. Check-in starts at 7:30 am and events start an hour later. All kids from the area are welcome. The cost is $10; registration closes at 5 pm on July 10. Participants must bring their own bikes and helmets.
Details about all these events are available from the township parks and recreation department, weekdays at 973-326-7371.
