Authorities release images of suspected armed robber of Morristown hospital employee

Authorities are asking for help tracking down a man they say committed an armed robbery last month in a parking garage at Morristown Medical Center.

The robbery occurred just before 11 o’clock on a Sunday morning, May 18, 2014.

Surveillance cameras captured images of the suspect, described as a dark-skinned male between 5- foot-10 and 6-foot-1, wearing a white Panama Jack style hat, large sunglasses, a gray long sleeve shirt, blue jeans and black shoes.

“Information revealed that a dark skinned male who was armed with a handgun entered a parking lot complex office and demanded money from an employee. The suspect then fled the location,” Morris County Prosecutor Fredric M. Knapp and Morristown Police Chief Peter Demnitz said in a joint statement on Wednesday.

The prosecutor’s office and Morristown police are being assisted by the Morris County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Section.

ONGOING INVESTIGATION INTO THE MAY 18, 2014 ARMED ROBBERY AT THE MORRISTOWN MEDICAL CENTER

Acting Morris County Prosecutor Fredric M. Knapp and Morristown Police Chief Peter Demnitz announce an ongoing investigation into an armed robbery that occurred on May 18, 2014, in the parking garage of the Morristown Medical Center complex on Madison Avenue in Morristown. Law enforcement authorities are requesting the assistance of the public in identifying the suspect captured in surveillance footage around the time of this incident, as well as any information as to the identity of this suspect.

On May 18, 2014, at approximately 10:53 a.m., the Morristown Police Department was contacted regarding an armed robbery in the parking garage of the Morristown Medical Center. Information revealed that a dark skinned male who was armed with a handgun entered a parking lot complex office and demanded money from an employee. The suspect then fled the location.

Multiple surveillance cameras captured the suspect around the time of this incident. He is described as a dark skinned male between 5’10 and 6’1, who was wearing a white panama jack style hat, large sunglasses, a gray long sleeve shirt, blue jeans and black shoes at the time of the incident.

Numerous law enforcement agencies continue to investigate this incident, including the Major Crimes Unit of the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office, the Morristown Police Department and the Morris County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Section.
