Thomas Barrett of Madison, N.J., Promoted to Full Professor at the College of Saint Elizabeth

Thomas Barrett of Madison has been granted tenure and full professor status at the College of Saint Elizabeth in Morris Township.

Barrett has been with the psychology program for seven years and serves as the coordinator for the doctoral program in psychology (Psy.D.), which was launched in 2013.

“As our programs in psychology continue to grow, we want to retain those faculty members who have made significant contributions,” said President Helen J. Streubert.

“Tom is the consummate professional and CSE is proud to have him on the faculty.”

Barrett brings to his new position a commitment to psychology in which he has taught seven courses in the Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology and Master of Arts in Forensic Psychology and Counseling Programs.

“My performance as an educator has been marked by the development of several new graduate and undergraduate courses, as well as teaching courses outside of the psychology program,” says Barrett.

“From 2008-2013, I joined the nursing department’s program and took small groups of graduate students to the Dominican Republic as part of a graduate course entitled Special Topic: Social and Cultural Issues and Applications in International Counseling.”

Dr. Barrett earned his B.A from Canisius College, Buffalo, N.Y., a M.A and Ph.D. from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale, Ill. He is a Licensed Psychologist in N.J. and Pa. and is listed in the National Register of Health Service Psychologists.

His areas of expertise are Psychospirituality, Humanistic/Existential Theory and Practice, and Resilience. His scholarship focus is Positive Psychology, and Spirituality and Psychotherapy.
