Last month we were moved by the Harmonium Choral Society’s performance of Annelies, the Diary of Anne Frank set to music.

Now, on Holocaust Remembrance Day, we have another powerful piece to share.

The theme from Schindler’s List  features Galina Zhdanova on violin, accompanied by Argentine pianist Sebastián Forster.

It’s from Sunday’s extraordinary house concert by Sebastián Forster & Friends.  The chamber ensemble performed at the behest of Morristown lawyer Herb Korn, who bought the evening at an auction to benefit the Kellogg Club.

Since graduating from the St. Petersburg Conservatory in her native Russia, Galina Zhdanova has performed with Josh Groban, Steven Tyler of Aerosmith, Sarah Brightman, David Byrne of Talking Heads, Roger Daltrey and The Trans-Siberian Orchestra.

She has played Carnegie Hall, Madison Square Garden and the Prudential Center, and appeared on Good Morning America, The View, The Rachel Ray Show and The Late Show with David Letterman.

And now, to the delight of several dozen grateful friends of Herb Korn, Galina can add a Morristown parlor to her résumé.

You can meet Maestro Sebastián Forster on May 1, 2014, at Great Conversations, the Morris Arts gala.
