Morristown youth volunteers share stage with Nashville stars at Methodist Church

If the youth group from the Morristown United Methodist Church needs sing-along material for its long drive to Appalachia this summer, here it is.

For the finale of a memorable fundraising concert earlier this month, Vince Cattano and his volunteers joined the chorus for headliners Don Henry and Alathea.

The evening raised money for a church mission trip to Wyoming County, W. Va., where some 50 volunteers will spend a week repairing homes of needy families. It’s part of the Appalachia Service Project; this July will mark the church’s 28th year of participation.

Alathea, a female duo from Tennessee, recorded a music video about the project, called I Still Carry You.

Songs by Don Henry, meanwhile, have been recorded by Kathy Mattea, the Oak Ridge Boys, Patti Page and Ray Charles, among others.
