The fire on DeKalb Place, reported at around 12:45 pm, was contained within about 20 minutes, said Morristown Fire Chief Robert Flanagan.

The apartment and an adjacent apartment sustained smoke and water damage, the Chief said.  Nobody was in the residence when firefighters arrived.

What caused the fire remains under investigation, Chief Flanagan said.

The Madison Fire Department’s Rapid Intervention Crew also responded to the scene.
