The New Jersey Devils will celebrate Morristown tonight, March 20, 2014, as part of its “My Town” series.  The town will be honored during the Devils game against the Minnesota Wild at the Prudential Center in Newark.

Morristown to be honored on March 20 vs. Minnesota

devils logoNewark, NJ – MARCH 20, 2014 – In celebration of New Jersey communities, the New Jersey Devils and Prudential Center recently launched the MY TOWN series, a new tradition that will highlight the diversity and culture within New Jersey. MY TOWN will celebrate greatness throughout the stories of everyday leaders and heroes in our towns. Morristown will be honored during the game versus Minnesota on March 20.

Fans were asked to submit nominations to https://www.newjerseydevils.com/mytown.

“We are honored to celebrate our dedicated fans and work with the local community leaders of Morristown to develop inspiring platforms that give back,” said Hugh Weber, President of Devils Arena Entertainment. “We work hard to represent our community, and to create experiences through Devils games and concerts that we can all be proud of.”

Morristown will be recognized in game with honorary captain of the game, a special in-game welcome, local color guard will present during the pre-game festivities, vignette on the community, and a Heroes Among Us feature. In addition, Morristown will be honored off season with community outreach events.

“Morristown is truly a town on the rise with a bright and exciting future, and with its new ownership team, the future of the New Jersey Devils looks equally as bright and exciting,” said Mayor Timothy Dougherty. “The Devils have a large fan base here in Morristown so needless to say we are very pleased to participate in the My Town Series.”

Morristown is the County Seat of Morris County, with a population of 18,411 residents. Morristown is rich with history as it served as George Washington’s headquarters for two different winter encampments during the Revolutionary War and The National Trust for Historic Preservation has named Morristown one of its “Dozen Distinctive Destinations.” In recent years, Morristown has been at the forefront of responsible redevelopment, while incorporating and encouraging Sustainable living.

With a vibrant downtown that features great retail, restaurants and vast array of professional services, a regional performing arts center and cultural venues, Morristown is a premier destination in which to live, work, shop and visit.
