What was Shakespeare talking about?  The Ides of March were a piece of cake!

Pat Fahy of the Morris County St. Patrick’s Parade committee promised 60 degrees and sunny for Saturday, and darned if he didn’t come within a few degrees of perfection.

MorristownGreen.com has been marching in the annual parade for years now, and this one crackled with extra energy. The exuberant crowd appeared happy for a reprieve from winter.

We were honored to welcome some winter warriors to our merry band of marchers.  Coach Bobby Jones, Co-Captain Jack Szary, goalie Shane Brown and most of their fellow state champion Morristown High School hockey team showed off the gleaming trophy–Morristown’s first one in this sport–won at the Prudential Center last week.

A special tip of our tri-corner cap to underclassmen Greg Reda, Harrison Brown, John Baron and Connor Wisloff  for carrying the MorristownGreen.com banners.  We have a feeling that these guys will be marching in more championship parades before they hang up their skates.

And we would be remiss if we did not acknowledge our “regulars,” the MG team that makes this labor of love so much fun.

Leading us once again, with distinction, was bagpiper Jim Hicks.

MG contributors Bill Lescohier, Berit Ollestad and Jeff Sovelove handled the photography with aplomb. Contributors Judy Stein-Loewenthal and Steve Loewenthal brought their families, as did 2013 MG Film Fest panelist Jonathan Collins and his wife, Jill Stein-Collins.  Young Annika and Mateo Conde have become parade veterans.

Leslie Raff answered the bell again, retired hockey star Alan Bataille made a surprise appearance, and Dan Pendick dusted off his kilt and traveled all the way from Maryland to join the fun.

We also were delighted to welcome ladies from the Daughters of the American Revolution: Patricia Sanftner, Lauralee Barrett, Cathy Hutchinson and Christine Smith.

And of course, Chef Melody McGinley Whitelaw showered us with Irish hospitality at her post-parade party, as always.

If we have inadvertently omitted anyone, we will update this posting.

Our thanks to the parade committee, and to the warm crowd, and to everyone who made this another day to remember for MorristownGreen.com. See you in Morris Plains for Memorial Day!
