Morris Township Civil War round table on Jan. 23 is canceled

We jumped the gun in our Weekend Preview last week, goofing on the date of the North Jersey Civil War Round Table  meeting.  The good news, we said by way of correction, was that the meeting would happen this week.

It wasn’t meant to be.

The Jan. 23, 2014, session at the Frelinghuysen Arboretum in Morris Township has been canceled because of a frosty forecast.

“Although the roads will be plowed, there is a prediction of single digits frigid temperature has for the night of meeting,” Round Table President Rich Rosenthal said in a message to members.

“There is obviously a strong potential of hazardous nighttime driving conditions, especially on the side streets. Your safety is the primary concern for the cancellation of the meeting… Stay warm.”

The Crossroads of the American Revolution annual meeting, set for today, Jan. 22, also has been postponed because of Gov. Chris Christie’s declared state of emergency in response to the snowstorm.
