Because of the continuing winter storm, NJ Transit plans to operate on an enhanced weekend schedule (the same schedule it uses on Martin Luther King Day and Presidents’ Day) on Jan. 22, 2014.
The agency also intends to keep its stations open for overnight periods through Jan. 27, as shelters from the bitter cold.
Cross-honoring of rail-, light-rail and bus tickets will continue on Wednesday.

NEWARK, NJ — Due to the continuing severe winter weather conditions, NJ TRANSIT has adjusted its service schedule for Wednesday, January 22. The following service advisories are in effect:
Rail Service: On Wednesday, January 22, NJ TRANSIT will operate trains on an enhanced weekend schedule (normally implemented for Martin Luther King, Jr. Day and Presidents’ Day) on all rail lines except the Atlantic City Rail Line, which will operate a regular weekday schedule. Customers should consult their timetables for details.
Bus Service: On Wednesday, January 22, NJ TRANSIT will operate buses on a regular weekday schedule. Customers should expect delays or detours on their routes, particularly during the morning commute.
Light Rail Service: On Wednesday, January 22, NJ TRANSIT will operate light rail lines on a regular weekday schedule. Customers should expect delays in service, particularly during the morning commute.
Access Link Paratransit Service: On Wednesday, January 22, Access Link service will be suspended statewide. Full service will resume on Thursday, January 23 as soon as road conditions permit.
In addition, NJ TRANSIT is reminding customers of the following:
- Systemwide Cross-Honoring in Effect on Wednesday, January 22: To give customers additional travel options during winter weather conditions, NJ TRANSIT has extended full systemwide cross-honoring through Wednesday, January 22, enabling customers to use their ticket or pass on an alternate travel mode—rail, light rail or bus—including private bus carriers.
- Waiting Room Hours Extended through Monday, January 27: Due to the current winter storm and extreme cold weather conditions expected to follow, all NJ TRANSIT rail station buildings and waiting rooms will remain open, including evenings and overnight, through Monday, January 27.
