Morristown police are advising motorists to avoid Spring Street , as of lunchtime on Thursday, Jan. 9, 2014, because of a gas leak. Here’s the full statement:
FROM MORRISTOWN POLICE:
Morristown Police advise that Spring Street will be closed between Water Street and Morris Street due to a gas leak. In addition, Morris Street will be closed between Spring Street and the Green.
Motorists should anticipate traffic congestion as a result of this road closure and should plan alternate routes. The appropriate authorities have been notified to respond but as of this time, there is no estimate for the amount of time needed to make repairs.
Motorists needing to travel between Morris Street and Spring Street can use Ridgedale Avenue to Abbett Avenue to Martin Luther King Avenue.
If travel plans allow, motorists should bypass the area using surrounding streets to alleviate traffic congestion.
