He’s been teasing great sounds from guitars almost since before there were any guitars to tease.

John Paul Pizzarelli, better known as Bucky to generations of jazz buffs, turns 88 this week.

That’s worth celebrating, and what better way to celebrate than with some of your best strumming pals?

Bucky’s Birthday Guitar Summit takes to the Bickford Theatre stage at 8 pm on Jan. 8, 2014.

Joining Bucky will be Ed Laub, Frank Vignola and Gene Bertoncini.   Here is a video glimpse of these Four Horsemen of the Guitar-calpyse, from last summer’s Morristown Jazz & Blues Festival:

You can join the party, too, and extend your own birthday wishes to Bucky.  Admission is $20 in advance, and $25 at the door. The Morris Museum’s Bickford Theatre  is at 6 Normandy Heights Road in Morris Township. Call (973) 971-3706 for more details.
