After a brief scuffle on Thursday, a second suspect was arrested in connection with a pair of Morristown burglaries, Morristown police said on Friday.
Christopher McRoy, 25, of Trenton, was arrested at an apartment on Clyde Potts Drive in Morristown.
The suspect “provided a false name in an attempt to hide his identity,” Police Lt. Stuart Greer said in a statement.
“As the Officers continued their investigation, Mr. McRoy began to fight them in an attempt to get away but was subdued by the Officers and Detectives who were on the scene and taken into custody without further incident,” the Lieutenant said.
Christopher McRoy was charged with two counts of burglary, two counts of conspiracy to commit burglary, two counts of theft of movable property and one count of criminal mischief, in connection with burglaries of homes on James Street and Headley Road on Dec. 29, 2013.
Officers Anthony O’Brien and Christopher Little made the arrest and Detective Brendan Briscoe conducted the investigation. Some stolen jewelry was recovered and will be returned to the owners, Lt. Greer said,
On New Year’s Eve, police arrested Kadeem Mussington of Bedminster and charged him in connection with these burglaries.The investigation continues. SECOND ARREST MADE IN RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY INVESTIGATION
On Thursday, 01/02/2014, the Morristown Police Department arrested 25 year old Christopher McRoy of Trenton, New Jersey for his involvement in two residential burglaries.
On Sunday, 12/29/2013, Officers responded to two residential burglaries in the James Street area of town. Based upon information gathered during the initial response, Police obtained a description of a suspicious vehicle which had been observed in the area. That information was investigated and ultimately led to the arrest of Kadeem Mussington of Bedminster for his involvement in these burglaries.
During the initial response, Officers determined that there had been two people involved in these burglaries and therefore the investigation continued in an attempt to identify and locate the second person.
As a result of the investigation, Detective Brendan Briscoe identified Mr. Christopher McRoy as a suspect and determined that he had been staying at an address on Clyde Potts Drive in Morristown.
Surveillance was conducted in the area and Mr. McRoy was observed inside a vehicle on Flagler Street this morning. Officers Anthony O’Brien and Christopher Little responded to the area to assist and managed to locate Mr. McRoy inside an apartment on Clyde Potts Drive.
Mr. McRoy was contacted by Officers and provided a false name in an attempt to hide his identity. As the Officers continued their investigation, Mr. McRoy began to fight them in an attempt to get away but was subdued by the Officers and Detectives who were on the scene and taken into custody without further incident.
At Morristown Police Headquarters, Mr. McRoy was interviewed by Detective Briscoe and confessed to his involvement in the residential burglaries. As a result of that interview, additional items of stolen jewelry were recovered and will be returned to the victims.
As a result of this investigation, Mr. McRoy was charged with two counts of burglary, two counts of conspiracy to commit burglary, two counts of theft of movable property and one count of criminal mischief. He was also charged with hindering his own apprehension and resisting arrest. He was processed and transported to the Morris County Correctional Facility in default of $50,000 bail as authorized by Judge Gary Troxel of the Morristown Municipal Court.

There are many top stories. So many good people live ,work and recreate here!
I just wish more highlights were given to the realities of staying in Morristown. The average 1 bedroom apartment now lists for $1900 a month. Where are average income workers going to live? There was always some “affordable ” housing in Morristown. I assume the powers that be don’t care.
Also Morristown property taxes are still some of the largest in Morris County. Morris Township and Morris Plains ,two towns that share the Morris School District,both have lower property taxes. These two towns will not merge with Morristown any time soon because they say it is mismanaged. Are they right? Maybe.
Starting a business in Morristown or building luxury high rise developments are wonderful for some developers, but for the residents it is questionable if they are gaining after all. The foot traffic in the eateries and the many new banks have not lowered taxes.
Morristown is not more affordable, or better for a small business that wants to rent, or buy space here. Only a few can compete with the banks and deep pocketed few. That is not Morristown. This was always a place where anyone could live, or start an enterprise. Somehow that seems to have been lost. Maybe people don’t care?
Should Morristown only be for the well to do? Or should it? Is that the future? Is this good? Maybe.
I tend to be an optimist but at the same time my rose colored glasses tend to fog up.
I hope everyone in Morristown does well. But these days a few are doing so much better then many others.
That is ok, because those with the gold seem to make the rules. Everyone else is just negated. Seems to be the case.
