Throw in more than 60 tubists and euphonists–one for every degree on the thermometer–and you have yourself a Merry Little Tuba Christmas.

Saturday marked the second year for Merry Tuba Christmas on the Morristown Green. The tradition began in New York City four decades ago, and it seems to be taking root here, thanks to Morristown High School Band Director Doug Rutan.

Players ranged in age from 3 to 82, and traveled from points as far as Philadelphia and Toms River.

They were conducted by John Palatucci of Verona, and Doug got some organizing help from Matt Paterno, director of the Hanover Wind Symphony.

You can catch the Hanover Wind Symphony at the Mayo Performing Arts Center on March 9, 2014.
