Morristown residents can ride out the storm–or rather, their cars can–at no charge inside parking garages operated by the Morristown Parking Authority.

Residents can park free through 8 am on Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2013, to enable snowplows to clear the streets of a snowfall predicted to deposit two to four inches.

Mayor Tim Dougherty’s office announced that residents need only show their drivers licenses upon exiting to get parking fees waived at the garages.

Here is a map of the garages, which are on DeHart Street, Ann and Bank streets, Cattano Avenue and beneath the Vail Mansion on South Street.

The season’s first real snowfall also has prompted cancellation of classes in the Morris School District and Morris Plains for Dec. 10.  A Tuesday real estate open house at Morristown High School has been canceled, and so has a school board meeting in Morris Plains.

NJ Transit once again is cross-honoring its bus, rail and light rail tickets. Travelers can use their tickets or passes on any of these transportation modes, including private bus carriers on Dec. 10.
