Morristown talent show “goes Hollywood” with emcee Tara Bernie; audition deadline is Dec. 4

Morristown’s Got Talent! appears to have rolled a lucky seven for its seventh season, landing Tara Bernie of NBC’s Access Hollywood as host of the Feb. 26, 2014, contest at the Mayo Performing Arts Center.

As a senior producer of Access Hollywood and Access Hollywood LIVE, the Morristown resident is at home interviewing celebrities. She has covered the Academy Awards, Grammys, Emmys, Golden Globes and major film festivals, among other assignments, and she is scheduled to broadcast live from the Winter Olympics in Russia.

A graduate of William Paterson University, Tara got her show biz start as an intern for the Howard Stern radio show. She also interned for Dan Rather at CBS News, and was a production assistant for Matt Lauer. She’s been a New Jersey Nets dancer and a Miss USA pageant judge, too.

“We are thrilled to partner with one of our very own community members who can bring tons of talent, experience, and perspective to this year’s show “ Kim Pistner, chairperson of the Morristown’s Got Talent Committee, said in a statement.

“Organizers of the show have decided to build off Tara’s talents and take the whole show in an exciting direction… Morristown’s Got Talent: Hollywood Edition!”

Auditions for the show are scheduled for Dec. 14, 2013, at Morristown High School. The deadline to register is Dec. 4; the fee is $10.

The competition, which offers a top prize of $1,000, is open to anyone who lives, works or studies in Greater Morristown, and to alumni of Morristown High School.  The show raised more than $50,000 last year to benefit programs of the Morris Educational Foundation, serving public schools in Morristown, Morris Township and Morris Plains.

Morristown, New Jersey, November 30, 2013 – The Morris Educational Foundation announced that this year’s Master of Ceremonies and host of the 7th Annual Morristown’s Got Talent will be Tara Bernie, senior producer for NBC’s Access Hollywood and Access Hollywood LIVE.

A Morristown resident herself, Bernie has interviewed top celebrities from TV, movies and music. She is no stranger to the red carpet as she has been rubbing shoulders with Hollywood’s biggest celebrities for the past 14 years. Access Hollywood keeps her busy conducting one-on-one celebrity interviews, visiting movie sets, and covering all the biggest award shows such as the Academy Awards, Grammys, Emmys and Golden Globes.

Bernie has traveled the U.S. as well as many international celebrity hot spots for interviews: Dubai, Paris, Toronto, Miami, and Park City for the Sundance Film Festival. In addition to hosting Morristown’s Got Talent, her most recent adventure has her going to Sochi Russia for the 2013 Winter Olympics where Access Hollywood will broadcast their show.

Early in her career, Bernie worked at WNBC New York as a production assistant for Matt Lauer. She served as an intern at CBS Evening News with Dan Rather. Her first job in the entertainment business was on the Howard Stern radio show as an intern.

Bernie, a William Patterson University graduate, was chosen as a top 10 journalism student who traveled to Ecuador, South America as a special assignment reporter. She was also a New Jersey NETS dancer, and served as a judge for the Miss USA pageant in San Antonio, Texas.

Four distinguished arts and entertainment professionals will judge the competition. There is a $1,000 cash prize for 1st place, $500.00 for second place and $250.00 for third place. Auditions are open to anyone who lives, works or goes to school in the towns of Morristown, Morris Township and Morris Plains. Alumni of Morristown High School are also invited to audition.

Auditions will take place on December 14, 2013, at Morristown High School. Anyone interested in auditioning must register at the event’s web site (www.morristownsgottalent.com). The deadline for registering for auditions is December 4, 2013. There is a $10 audition fee.

The event will be held on February 26th, 2014 at the Mayo Performing Arts Center in Morristown, New Jersey.

“The Morris Educational Foundation is a integral part of the Morris School District and this fund raising event will further the Foundation’s ability to distribute financial and other resources to and for the Morris School District for enrichment programs and other projects aimed at enhancing the quality of education and educational opportunities for students in the district, “added Molly Servais, Chair of the Board of the Morris Educational Foundation.

Last year, the event raised over $50,000 for the Morris Educational Foundation. Tickets for the show will go on sale in early 2014 through The Mayo Performing Arts Center in Morristown.
