If you think your house was chilly on Sunday night, be thankful you did not have to trade places with Edith Norris and her fiancé, Army Staff Sgt. Roy Thompson.

They spent the overnight huddled on the sidewalk in front of the Morristown bridal shop i do…i do.

Their mission: To be first in line for a bridal gown giveaway on Monday. For Veterans Day, the shop is distributing 125 bridal dresses to veterans, active-duty military personnel and their fiancées.

Here is our video of this patriotic promotion from 2011:

Edith and Roy, who are aiming for a July wedding, arrived outside i do…i do at 6:35 pm on Sunday.

They came from Browns Mills, near Fort Dix, where Roy is stationed, armed with multiple layers of clothes.  As overnight temperatures slid into the 40s, with gusty winds, they planned to take turns warming up in their car.

Edith estimates their urban bivouac will shave about $600 from their wedding expenses.

Roy has been deployed to Iraq (three times) and Afghanistan (twice).  So November in Morristown is good duty.

Hoah!

After the bridal fitting, the couple may want to head over to Mo’Town’s Hair Affair, on 21 Abbett Ave. in Morristown, where veterans are being offered free haircuts between 8 am and 1 pm.

Veterans Day services, meanwhile, are scheduled for 10 am at the Morris Township municipal building, and 11 am on the Morristown Green.
