Technically, they all were competitors.

But some 35 chiropractors, acupuncturists, yoga instructors and nutritionists played nice on Sunday for four drizzly hours dubbed Wellness: Mo-Town!

With a name like that, how could it be otherwise?

“A lot of us are competitors. But this is about putting our competition aside to do something nice for the community,” said Marisa Sweeney of Be Well.

She organized the event with Yoga Morristown, to benefit Sustainable Morristown and Yogis Heart, a volunteer group that gives yoga scholarships to young adults.  Visitors to the Green enjoyed free yoga lessons all afternoon.

“Hopefully, this gives people the energy to work with us on environmental restoration projects,” said Paul Miller, a co-founder of Sustainable Morristown, and town sustainability coordinator in Mayor Tim Dougherty’s administration.

First Lady Mary Dougherty welcomed the crowd. The Mayor declined a photographer’s request to join the yogis for a Lord of the Dance Pose or two, but he did make a campaign promise.

“If I win the election I will do yoga on the Green,” he said.
