If the federal government could stretch a dollar the way Morristown High stretches a point… we’d have a federal government.

No, that’s not a baseball score in the headline.

The Morristown High School football varsity blanked West Morris Central 3-0 on Saturday, to even the Colonials’ record to 2-2.

A first-half field goal by sophomore Ethan Bolson held up for Morristown, thanks in part to a fourth-quarter end-zone interception by senior Leo Friedman.

“I saw the wide receiver cut across the middle. I didn’t see anybody with him on our team, so I just figured I’d follow him, and it happened,” Leo said after the Colonials’ home opener.

Coach Chris Hull credited the “prep offense”–the players who mimicked the Wolfpack offense in practice all week–with preparing the defense for another superb effort.

Morristown has allowed just four touchdowns in its first four contests.

Now Coach Hull says he will be looking for ways to rev up the Colonials’ offense, as it prepares for a road game at Parsippany Hills (4-0) on Oct. 12.

The Vikings have beaten Morris Hills, Chatham, West Morris Mendham and the defending state champs, Roxbury.

Stay tuned for more about Saturday’s game.
