Second daytime burglary in a week targets Morristown neighborhood

For the second time in less than a week, the Washington’s Headquarters neighborhood of Morristown has been targeted by a daytime burglar.

Residents report that a home on Sunset Place was hit between 1 pm and 3:30 pm on Saturday, Sept. 14, 2013.

A laptop and some jewelry were reported missing from the first and second floor of the house.  It is believed that the burglar entered through a back door.
During the daytime on Sept. 11, an iPad and jewelry were reported missing from a home on Washington Avenue.
The quick nature of these hits has police theorizing that the burglar or burglars could be wearing backpacks or shoulder bags, and making fast getaways on a bicycle, according to residents.  A professional burglar can be in and out within three minutes, police have told them.
Saturday’s incident brings the total number of reported burglaries since August to at least seven.  Residents have been advised to make sure doors and windows are locked whenever they leave their homes.
