If people are sincere when they say, “Have a nice day,” they are wishing you a day like last Friday.

Sunny. Warm but not hot. The kind of shorts-and-t-shirts day that makes you want to hop on your bike, maybe even have a picnic.

Quite a few folks had the same idea. It started at Kings, with the dedication of a bike corral that residents won in an online contest.

The monthly Critical Mass ride came next, culminating in Bike and Walk Morristown’s picnic on the lawn of the Vail Mansion.

While the Lords of Liechtenstein performed (see video clip), Dixieland jazz sounded inside the Morristown & Township Library across South Street and Mary Chapin Carpenter and Marc Cohn sauntered onstage next door at the Mayo Performing Arts Center.

Now that’s a nice day.
