Editor’s note: This update comes to us from the Junior Colonials football program.

Football is the ultimate team sport. But how does a collection of athletes become a team? In a word: Continuity.

Consider all the adjustments that coaches and players must make during a single down. Continuity is important because it eases communication and helps manage expectations among teammates.

Love them or hate them, the SEC is dominant in football. Why? Continuity.

According to Kirby Smart, Alabama’s DC, “Almost all our freshmen already know each other and if they don’t, they know someone’s family or somebody who knows them. Alabama’s recruits are a team even before they sign, because they enjoy an unbroken relationship with each other from the first day of Pop Warner to the last day of High School.”

In a move that will advance continuity in Morristown football to a whole different level, the Morristown High School athletic department just announced that the Junior Colonials football program will be playing games and practicing on the MHS campus. Yes, both practice and games.

This move to the MHS central location is also a blessing to parents who otherwise have to cross town during rush hour.

How’s this for continuity?

Since Coach Hull and his team will be ending practices when the Jr. Colonials start, each practice is an opportunity for the all the Colonials players and coaches to build relationships all the way from the 2nd to 12th grades.

Thank you Ms Perri and Coach Hull for making this possible.
