Morristown police: Burglaries across town, stay alert

morristown police badgeMorristown residents should take precautions because of recent residential burglaries in “different parts of town,” police said on Saturday.

They did not give locations, but residents have reported break-ins over the last week on Farragut Place and the Knollwood Road neighborhood, and an attempted break-in on Colles Avenue on Friday afternoon.

Police issued this statement:

The Bureau of Police are working diligently with citizens and neighborhood associations in order to investigate these reports.

We are asking for the public’s assistance. We understand that less time is spent outdoors this time of year, but residents are asked to maintain awareness within their neighborhoods. Please report all suspicious activity or people to the Police immediately.

Basic crime prevention methods should be used at all times including ensuring all doors and windows are secured and locked, keeping exterior or motion sensing lights active and asking neighbors to watch over each other. The best defense is a strong united community.

The statement said more information would be posted on the town website within 36 hours.
