Appeal denied for convicted killer of Morristown boy
The state Supreme Court won’t hear an appeal by Porfirio Jimenez, a Honduran immigrant convicted of sexually assaulting and killing a 10-year-old Morristown boy in 2001, the Daily Record reported.
Convicted in 2008, Jimenez is serving a life sentence for kidnapping, beating and stabbing Walter Valenzuela to death. Defense lawyers unsuccessfully argued that the day laborer was mentally retarded and insane when the acts were committed.
A state appellate court upheld the conviction last year.
