Yes, Virginia there is a Christmas.  Proof of that spirit was at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Morris Township, where 163 Nativity scenes from around the world were artfully displayed on Sunday.

There were tableaux depicting Mongolians and Eskimos and the Amish, among other cultures.

Scenes for the Community Crèche Celebration were submitted from church members’ collections.

“This is a community venue and we invite members of the community as well as members of our church to exhibit and enjoy seeing the collections of others,” said Jen Jones, chairwoman of the event.

Looking ahead to next year’s exhibit in December 2013, Jones invited anyone interested in submitting family collections of heirlooms to apply online at www.communitycreche.org to exhibit. The church is at 283 James St.

  1. Victoria~ I’m so sorry your grandchildren were not able to view the nativities or participate in the children’s activities and video. NEXT year the dates are scheduled for Dec. 6,7 & 8 (Fri.-Sun.). We will have well over 200 creches!
